I find myself googling all things BMW e9 and reading/viewing as much as I can. Seriously, I have a problem. I just love the look and history of this vehicle. I can't wait to get mine back so I can just sit in the garage and stare at it for hours rather than drooling while looking at OPC, i.e. other people's coupes.

Btw, the original color of my Coupe was Sienabraun. There seem to be very few of these colors around. Can't decide if I like or hate it.

I have the same problem Scott. I keep trying to research more but I’m getting an error message. If anyone is good at computers please advise:

Scott, i can help you with that ... the original color of my coupe was baikal ... god i love that color, one of my top 5 ... black, not so much. that being said, i like it a whole lot more than sienabraun. one of my coupe friends has a name for that color that i won't say out him or say publicly ... but lets just say its a digestive color. part of the problem for me is that i once had an e12 that was topazbraun and that has cured me of ever wanting another brown car.

and Andrew, i look forward to doing that once i get my coupe back from its long hiatus at the paint shop. still going to be black though

I think I have viewed EVERY image/description/article/classified ad/video at least 3 times. I can't wait to get my coupe back from the painter/body shop, I plan on taking LOTS of pictures and VIDEOS using my DJI Drone. Drone shots of my coupe driving in epic mountain scenery will gratify/satisfy others like me that are addicted to Coupe porn.

I'll say it again; I've owned coupes in Fjord, Chamonix, Baikal, Polaris, a light grey metallic 80's BMW color, and Sienna; the only coupe that universally put smiles on peoples' faces in addition to wanting to know more about it is Sienna. Purely unscientific I know, but people are really drawn to it and it is a fantastic color in the right light.

its a love it or hate it color. i liked it better on a 2002 ... i just like every other color more.

the colors that do it for me are - ceylon, turkis, inka, riviera, baikal (maybe in that order), followed by atlantik / nacht, taiga, granatrot, agave, malaga, colorado, verona ... (the expressive colors)
then polaris, anthracite, chamonix, bristol, schwarz, golf, any other blue (the refined colors) ... then followed by any other green and then any other beige or brown.

naaaah ... just doesn't do it for me on a coupe where color was an option. surely on a really old car where black was your choice, brown was expressive. unique browns / copper maybe on a hotrod. a coupe just screams out for color ... that's part of the problem i have with a black coupe ... its really pretty when it is very clean and polished ... but every bit of pollen or dust finds its way to the surface of a black car.

I guess what it is about the Sienna that attracts people is that brown is a rare color on a car, so it sticks out. In the last five years brown has become more popular (most of the German luxury brands have a shade of brown now), but it still is far from common. Other shades besides the really bright or pastel colors; however, are seen more often in modern cars and may get lost in the mix as a result. All my defense of brown being said, Polaris/Red is still my personal favorite.

I am slightly confused how you guys all just hijacked my coupe porn thread and started limiting the porn solely to color choices. It’s as if I said the car is beautiful and I drool over constantly and all we talk about is the tires. The color is only one aspect of the vehicle to me that is beautiful. To me it is the epitome of design.

It is inspiring a new business that I am coming up with in terms of design. I will share it with you soon.

What is your favorite design element of the e9?

yeah, yeah ... its pretty (beautiful) all polished up in a museum or when it first comes out of the shop ... then reality strikes - water spots, dust, pollen, wax haze ... it all shows up in a big way on a black car. maintaining that beautiful black car is a PITA ... looks really dramatic, but PITA

As the owner of a black e9, I agree it's a PITA, but man, a dark color works great with all the polished trim. No matter the color, we keep them clean, so what's a little more cleaning?

Getting back to Scott's original question about our favorite part, for me it's the grace of the greenhouse, with those delicate roof pillars that make the roof seem to float above the body. Coupled with the clean and uncluttered body lines there is an elegance no modern car can match.

My second favorite thing is the instrumentation, at night.
