While reinstalling the "Bitch" clip for the brake booster I found this. It is a single bullet fuse under the dash (by the steering column).

i don't have a 74, so i haven't really studied the wiring diagrams. picture is a little fuzzy. the clue is always what the color of the wires are - most added wires are solid color. a good sign of added wires are if they are the same color (or not) on both sides of the fuse. usually a single fuse is something that a PO added - like for a radio / stereo. of for something they plugged in - like a GPS
I don't see the fuse you're talking about. Do you have an automatic transmission? If you do and the brown wire is part of the wire harness that goes up to the trans indicator lights, I think it dims the indicator lights when the headlights are on. I would think it would be a resistor though. I'm probably full of it though since it's been more than a year since I was studying the wiring diagrams while changing out the ignition switch. That wire harness ran right behind the switch and had to come out first.
I do have an automatic trans and that big, beautiful wart of an indicator on my dash.

If I remove the PRND display will my trans still work? I would love to remove this wart as well
It should work fine, just no more lights. Is the display on the steering column or on the dash?
