It's at the local pick-n-pull (Crazy Ray's Edgewood, MD) in an '83, per the yard, 533i/A according the plate on the B-pillar. I was interested because it had 3 pedals and I've been thinking of converting from an AT to either a 4 or 5 speed OD. There was no shift knob to go by, but surprisingly it shifted from the upper left past half way and directly down into another gear (assuming that's first) rather than stopping at the "cross gate." It shifted through all the gears easily without depressing the clutch.

I wasn't expecting that an E28 would have the CR box, but seeing the 533i/A plate, I imagine someone converted it. The car was not wrecked. The water pump seem to have been leaking judging by the scale all around it. It had a replacement VIN number (started WDAB or something similar) issued by Kansas and had VA and TX windshield stickers.

I don't have any interest in a CR box, but thought I would let others know.

FYI- the core charge on that very special tranny at metric mechanic is $1500.00
