Hello All,

I was hoping to get some help with my ignition/steering lock switch. After inserting the key and turning the key to start the car, the key does not "spring back. Has any one had a similar problem?
I have removed both ignition switch and the key lock. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

I believe the spring mechanism is in the switch/tumbler. I seem to recall testing mine out of the car. Along with the spring it has a latching system that only allows one attempt to engage starter before having to turn ign to off position.
I've had one apart but not far enough to see how that spring works... The entire casement is made of a fragile pot/cast metal that I broke.

I just did this on a 2002, the tumbler just spins in the housing, it connects to the switch which contains the spring(s). I drove around for 2 weeks using a screwdriver in the switch to turn it to start and then it recoils back to run position. No lock assembly necessary.
