Hi,

Has anyone imported a E9 from Europe? If so, can you please share your experience?

Thank you!

Hi Buddan,

might help to say where to and give a bit more detail. A few people have done the Europe to US process.

Regards,

Rohan

I found a few cars in Germany and would import them to the East Coast port like Baltimore, MD.

Us govt has a specialist for this

Contact the a federal govt. they have a specialist for this type of activity. It's Dick Merritt of Ferrari fame. The rest is easily handled via an import and shipping broker who does this regularly.

Make sure to check with your DMV

Check the DMV website or contact them if noting on the site.
I'm in California and they have an extensive section on direct imports. CA is a pain in the a$$ when it comes to imports and require a lot of paperwork. MD may have less restrictions...

With my brother, I imported my '72 3.0 CS from Italy in '85. They were seelling for $2-3K there then. Most of the conversion work was fairly simple & cosmetic. You had to have the parts, tho. Lots of paperwork involved, as you have to document everything with photos and send them to the feds for approval. Bottomline was I paid about $8K for the car, total, and still drive it. Watch out for rust & quickie paint jobs.
