What's interchangeable?

Grab/arm rest?

Map pocket? The latter same as E3?

@BMW Pete and I looked into the door trim about a year ago on a parts car he had. The aluminum trim is very similar but just a hair shorter.

The arm rests and the map pockets are the same as an e9. Of course all of this is for e12 based e24’s which ran through ‘82.

A hair is not too much. Is the piece available from BMW? If so $$$???

Okay sorry for the lack of precision. It has been a year but I think it was about a quarter inch. Close enough that only the forum peanut gallery would notice. :D

You'd think it'd at least be just as long, but I guess 1/4" shorter would hardly be noticeable if someone found mint e24 pieces of the chrome. But the grab handles the same, right? And map pockets?

A friend and I are parting an ‘81 e24 next month. I’ll ask if he can pull the trim. He is a member so perhaps he will read this. :)

Update. We measured the trim strips. The CS is 40.5" inches and the e24 is 40”. Still close enough to keep your car looking nearly whole, figure a .25” gap on front and back.

Markos, does the E24 chrome have the same width and profile, or at least similar?
By the way, I have seen in pictures of the E24 door card that they don't have the same fastening (tack strips) as the E9. Wonder if that's correct?

E24 is 125 mm and glued on
Don't forget plastic door handle trim, special screw, door handle, door pull, map pocket
