Interior questions /colors/thoughts

I like Ohmess' advice on the side panels...SEM has the same color matching service. If/when you do, I'd recommend a thorough scrub/degrease with a good citrus based cleaner for the panels, and of course the armrests, etc, before spraying any color change. I know this is a little bit of mission creep, but you'll probably want new backer boards for the front doors...so you can scrub the removed "skins" in a bathtub, after soaking in good hot water for a while. Our e9 vinyl is very stout, and can stand up to this with no prob. Learned this trick from Murray....he also recommended waiting until your spouse is gone for a couple of hours before the tub action was wise...

Hard to say. I have only one example.

For UK and US cars it could be difficult probably if I'm not mistaken.

No US dealer info is available as Hoffman was the importer and if you are lucky enough to know where it was sold those records are also long gone. And all US coupes had the same options other than early 2800CS with manual front windows.

My car was delivered to Italy, is there more information available in my situation?

Please ask BMW Archive ([email protected] ).

The name of the dealer and the city was in the few information about the car (together with paint color name, production date, delivery date).

Worth to try. You need to wait week or two for the feedback.

My car went to a German dealer, and hence was part of the information BMW but aside for the color and build date, not much else is known for these cars. It's a shame.. M

the only reason i know where my car was sold was the original stamps in the owner's manual / bill of sale.

This (below) is what I got from the archive. I was happy to get it, but the trail ends at Hoffman. If you have a dealer name maybe you can hunt down some more of the history.

Hello,
The BMW 3.0 CS Automatic US VIN 2250207 was manufactured on June 19th, 1972 and delivered on June 27th, 1972 to the BMW importer Hoffman Motors Corp. in New York City. The original colour was Black, paint code 086.

My car was delivered to Italy, and so I would assume that there were a relatively small number of dealers in the 1970s.
If Bmw archives didn’t provide that information in their email, do they not have it, or should I email back?

There are few pages of BMW Location in Italy in the Service booklet from 1972...

In Poland there was not too many (1.) than.

Some of them for sure. Hard to say which is which but small investigation will help you to nail down the right.

The feedback from BMW Archive - this should be the first step before you will sink into a list of dealers.

I'm pretty sure most of them are not... but German - "the chance is out there".

Cost me nothing to ask. Maybe they'll answer? That would be something.
