Hi,
My name is David Huybrechts and after having owned and restored several classic cars I bought a 1969 2800 CS in 2008. This should be the "keeper" car. My father owned a 3.0 csi when I was a kid...so blame me for being nostalgic :-D.
The car seemed to be in fair condition (the usual rot places at first sight) but it seemed a lot worse when we started (they probably all do...) But this will not stop me from getting the job done. New front left fender, repairs on the inner fender (I don't know the Englsh word for this part, it's where the front shock absorbers are fitted), new inner and outer sills (left and right), new rear panel (complete) new floor pan (right side). After that we will have the Mechanics sorted out (the car runs & drives fine so no worries here) and finally the interior (I want to repair only what's necessarry and so keeping the car's "patina".
The car's history :
The BMW 2800CS VIN 2202357 was manufactured on November 13th, 1969 and delivered on November 19th, 1969 to Zurich (Switzerland). The original colour was Nevada, paint code 001. I bought it in The Netherlands in 2008 and imported it into Belgium.
I hope to have the car ready next year. (at least driveable !) If you want to see the work in progess, here's my photoalbum :
