ipad mini in the coupe

still more

in kick panels i think i used 4in, and center channel 3in (see pics). re crossovers, i played with settings a little at first, and like you couldnt tell made much difference.

and HELL yes, my system does sound good when the car is not running, like carnigie hall in fact, plus it will shatter asphalt beneath the car.

and for you purist out there, i was very careful, nothing i did with this systems added one singe hole or speaker grill - all mods can be removed and no traces/alterations would be left. plus all this power is being run by a period correct blaupunkt frankfurter (see pic).

Alan,

extremely impressive. how about a couple of pix of the finished kick panel and top of rear deck.

my rear deck is a panel completely covered with speaker cloth - like the coupeking rear decks. my rear decks weren't butchered (thank goodness) but it also has speakers under the rear seat - sounds like an opportunity to remove the guts and make passive radiators with a sub-woofer under the seats.

my a/c panel was routed out by the PO, so i don't really have the opportunity to use a period correct head unit. i was quite intrigued by the pioneer stage 4 unit that looks like a period correct unit (twin post), but is uber expensive and all of the other things - bluetooth, ipod are optional add-ons

more

my car had holes cut in panel under back seat too, so i put the subs there - see pics. also as requested a shot of kick panels and back shelf. thnks for kind words.

tthe poor man's approach

After the restoration of the Great White, I determined that going without an antenna would improve aesthetics. I am still working on the project and plan (when the weather is significantly warmer than today's single digits) to install the period correct radio and other gear.

However, last season, heading home from the Vintage in Saratoga, I was able to satisfy my desire for music by means of my iPhone and ear buds. It was like a bit of backgroudmusic to the wonderful engine sounds....

Just a suggestion - my Blaupunkt (and most all Beckers) have an external in jack. I hook to to my android phone and listen to streaming internet radio from all over the world through the radio speakers. My favorite now is Antenne Bayern Oldies but Goldies with live German commentary in between from Bavaria. A lot of fun remembering high school German.
