is this a stahl header?

Chris, wonder if that would adhere to my rusty exhaust and maybe extend the life by a few months?

I used it on the down pipes as well which were rusty looking and it sure improved their appearance. It almost goes on like water, very fluid.

When I had my rusty exhaust out last year I wire brushed it and sprayed with some hi-temp silver from the local auto parts store. Still holding up and a lot better than looking at rusty pipes. Also did the driveshaft in black.

Yeah, I'll be doing something to mine Steve, that looks nice. . Mine appears quite sound, but certainly ugly. I am not going to beautify the undercarriage and have to look at those rusty pipes when I put it on a hoist to Ogle. Most of the people I know just cannot imagine why anyone would care what a car looks like from below. They are right of course, but I think E9 owners enjoy a nice Bottom.

Paint

Beware....I have always used "Hi-heat Aluminum Radiator Paint" available from Krylon and others. Seems this paint is getting hard to come by, at least in Canada. I grabbed some paint off the shelf from Lordco in a hasty moment....PlastiKote Hi-Temp...."Highly durable silicone resin....Ideal for headers and exhaust manifolds" It was not until I had sprayed a number of pieces that I had a very un-masculine moment and read the extremely small print on the can (I could see this stuff was not working as I am familiar) "must be cured 2 hours at 400 degrees F" Holy moley. This wife put me in a head lock, no way are you using house ovens for car parts. The end result was my worst shop disaster in recent memory......this paint got everywhere and tracked the shop floor with abandon. Handling the uncured bits was messy to say the least. Hours of clean up was required. I certainly bitched at my next visit to Lordco, as who the hell other than a powder coat outfit or someone with an industrial oven could possibly use this stuff? They agreed and pulled it from the shelf as this is jobber material for sure. Stock in the back and sell at request only. Even after stripping with solvent, and recoating with my tried and true.... has now started to flake and peal. Sure....read the f***** instructions......damn!
