is this an e9 front bumper?

'73 bumpers have slightly longer sides (front and rear) to account for the 2.5 mph rating. the mounts are different and the front overrider rubber is different. everything else is the same (if i remember correctly). i will caution you that they are not as prevalent as they were US only ... and only for '73. if its for a driver, and you aren't as hung up on originality ... the pre-'73 is probably easier to find and more cost effective. if you have a '73 and want to stay original ... i got it, just be aware of the differences when you buy off of ebay, because many of the sellers do not. the new bumpers available from BMW are pre '73 ... so are the stainless steel versions out there.

coupeking has the '73 brackets on ebay currently - http://www.ebay.com/itm/BMW-3-0CS-E...c2cc3d0&pid=100005&rk=1&rkt=3&sd=332146630526

thanks for clearing that up. I'm not sure this is correct but i think as long as you have the 73 mounting brackets and spacers you can use any e9 bumper as they will fit onto those brackets. is this true? anyone out there know this for sure ?

that is true ... but you can generally get mounts for pre '73 pretty easy. you can still buy the front mounts for 63.00 for the left + 53 for the right from getbmwparts.com. 51111810525 + 526

Looks like more than "surface rust" to me. Rechroming is not cheap. I did my side and hood grilles and it was $100. each. But they also nickel plated all four.

does this look lie a correct e9 front bumper? seems flat in the center section and side pieces seem shortish? could it be an e3 bumper? thought i would let the experts here decide as I'm looking for a 73 front bumper for a driver

I have 73 brackets and I'm located in NYC. Unfortunately, I don't have a spare bumper. If you are interested, message me.
