Coming down the home stretch on my Bavaria restoration. It seems like everything I pick up now is missing something.

8 of the plastic studs that hold the door cards to the doors are missing. These are the ones that sort of screw into the door card, not the inserts in the doors themselves. PN is 51411870718 and called a "clamp". The usual suspects carry these, but I was hoping someone more local might have some extras.

I need the "fuzzy strip" that goes inside the car at the top of the door card. It's held in by a chrome strip that screws to the door. PN is 51131805598 and it is called "synthetic strip" #3 below I think. It appears that it must come by the foot (meter). Same with the small pieces with a different profile that fit against the rear quarter windows. PN 51131805559. #1 below I think.

Still looking for one of the rubber plugs that go on the B pillar

In my original thread asking for this part, I thought the center should be open for the seat belt to pass through. But that's not the case. The floor attachment for the belt/harness is on the rocker below the B pillar. These should look just like the one I have pictured above. There must have been other E3 models that attached the belt/harness on the B pillar.

Later cars had the retractor behind the B pillar cover. You can find generic fuzzy strips and cut to your length. The “clamps” sure don’t clamp like they used to, and you may or may not want to use the rubber condom in the door itself.

Thanks Chris. What is a good source for generic fuzzy strips that work? These seem to be a little special in that they are U shaped to fit over the ridge and have to be a pretty specific width in order for the chrome strip to hold them against the glass just right.

Drew fashioned something in his thread, I forgot they are U shaped.

Here it is, we screwed up the clamps but figured it out.

Chris,
Thanks, but the link looks like it's for the exterior for an E9. My need is for the interior on an E3. I'll try to take a picture tomorrow of the fuzzy strip holder and where it screws to the interior top of the door. I also have a piece of the material and I'll try to get a good picture of that.

I think I did a pretty poor job of describing the soft trim I need that goes inside the car, against the windows, to prevent window rattles and drafts. I'll try again.

There are two types of trim needed. Both are called "synthetic strips" (PNs 51131805598 and 51131805559...at this point I'm not sure which is which). One of these part numbers is used under all 4 roll up windows. The other one is only used under the fixed rear quarter windows (E3 Bavaria).

The most used part number looks like this...

The part used only under the rear quarter windows looks like this...

They both press fit on to the ridge next to the window (BTW, all pictures are of the right rear door)...

Then the chrome trim is screwed to the top of the door to help hold them in place and to finish off the top of the door...

Does anybody know the source(s) for this trim (or an acceptable generic substitute)?

Also, which part number goes with which type of trim?

Thanks!

Thanks, now it makes sense. Although we have an e3 I’ve never had that part off. On an 02 or e9 that U shaped strip points upward and is attached to the interior sill trim with U shaped clips with a double barb.

That is similar to how the external wipers and trim attach on an E3.

Thanks, Mike. Hard to tell, but I don't think they are the ones I am looking for. Hopefully the border opens at some point and I can help identify in person what you have.

Dick-

is this what you need? ( have all 4 doors and lots of clips)

Yes, I believe so. I'll send you a PM.

Also, I found out that the part that goes against the rear quarter windows is the same stuff that goes under the roll up windows. It is not the rubber looking piece that I show in the OP that I thought went there. (One of the many mysteries you face when you buy a car completely disassembled. o_O )
