In search of fully restored E9 CS or CSi.

I know it’s a long shot, but Ceylon Gold would be my first choice, then Malaga Red (saw the BaT one after the fact), Fjord Blue or Baikal Blue.

Not opposed to other colors for the right car.

Prefer manual, though I wouldn’t step over an automatic gem.

Open to importing.

I’m in the Boston area, but I can hop on a flight easy enough as a retired Delta Heavy Equipment Operator.

My cell 603-801-7610.

It took me six years to find my other bucket list car. I’ll be at Misselwood with that car (1963 Lincoln Continental - I know I have eclectic tastes), if you happen to be attending.

Hoping to not have to wait that long this time.

Thanks for your help!

hey CaptainJack ... first, welcome to e9coupe, since this was your first post.

so here's the question - a fully restored e9 ... that is a loaded question. so what is your hopeful budget? prices are all over the map. i will caution you that there is restored and then there is Restored. 2 very different things. if you are buying a restored car, its all about the restorer. you live in the area of a great one - @Mario L. at VSR (New Hampshire). if i was going to buy a coupe in your area (or anywhere in the NE), i would get to know him as you want his opinion. he might also know of a car worth buying. he has steered a fellow e9 owner into buying a nice CSL that he partially restored a few years ago.

the potential elephant in the room are cars from Oldenzaal that are routinely imported into the USA. there is a potential tariff issue involved here. some of their cars are pretty nice and some are a mixed bag.

if you would like an inka CSL, i know of a pretty nice one for not much more than a nicely restored CS / CSi.

best

Scott,

Thank you for this. I thought I already replied.

I’m lucky that VSR is just one town over. Spoke with them a few days ago.

I came close to hopping on a flight to AMS to visit the O dealer. Decided to pump the brakes on that based on feedback like yours.

I love interesting colors, but Inka might be a bridge too far for my wife.

My cell 603-801-7610 and email [email protected] if you’d like to continue the conversation.

I’m here to learn from the experts.

As a (slightly) newer member here who has been spending a lot of time learning as I’m updating my E9 CSi, I would echo the above. What is your goal - a car that is concours level and will win events? Harder to find and expensive. A car that looks great, wonderful daily driver and perhaps has had most of the maintenance work done by its owner either self-done or through local shop? Easier to find, still not cheap. The most challenging is the online ad/auction, since it’s hard to know what you’re getting without really going to see it.
Check through the cars for sale forum here - a few months back there was a really nice blue car with cream interior that a long-time member was selling.
As you do your search, don’t hesitate to post a link to a potential buy here and have people review it. The eagle eyes of the many experienced members will give you an idea of what problems you might be buying even in a “restored” vehicle. It also might be helpful to indicate the general price range you’re targeting, since that would immediately include/exclude potential buys
