I was rifling through my old literature stack on E9 items. I came across this BMW Concessionaires GB Ltd. Price list. Interesting stuff.

Shocking to read that the CS Auto, CSi and CSL were all the same price? £7399.00 you choose. At 1973 Sterling rate of $2.45=£1.00 that equates to a US price in 1973 of $18,127.00. Fast forward, $18,127.00 in todays dollars equals ~$125,000.00 USD.

It would be interesting to hear from our mature UK friends comments on these local prices?

In the US a 73 3.0CS was around $13K, by 74 closer to $16K and when the last ones were sold later in 75 they were $18K due to the strengthening Deutschmark.

They were that expensive when released here. I don't know how the CSL is the same price though. Perhaps they had not heard of premium pricing or the premium was already built in.

I have a 1971 Motor Show Review and here are the entries for the 3.0CS (wrong model shown) and a couple of cars which might compare to it.
