My goal was to buy a totally finished car that would comfortably take my wife and I to several events in the Colorado mountains every year. it's replacing a mechanically perfect, reliable Sunbeam Tiger that has served us well. I had an e 9 way back in the '90s, loved it, and so considered owning another one. Yes, it's risky buying a car based on pretty pictures and all the comments of the BMW peanut gallery, but, car was delivered yesterday, and I am totally amazed at it's condition, even knowing it was totally restored about 10 years ago, it looks near perfect, and drives like a new car, and everything works!!

Congrats! The last three words of your post are probably the most relevant - enjoy the ride! Everyone here is very friendly although I can definitely see the appeal of someone being able to say “I’m sure they are very nice people but I don’t need them because my car is perfect!”
But I’m sure the comments about a 5-speed made you go “hmmmm”. The dark side beckons

Welcome! And welcome back in e9 ownership!

If you run into troubles, or just have generic questions, do test us. We love them. (The questions, the cars and often the owners as well :-) )

Our site has a faq section and diy section that covers quite a few different topics.

The search function on the e9 website is a bit limp as it doesn't accept 3 digit terms such as "ECU", so I personally use a generic browser and include e9coupe.com as a seach term.

Congratulations on your new to you coupe and welcome. We’re glad you joined us here.

I also recommend becoming a BMW Classic car club member. It’s another way to connect with BMW owners and participate in activities.

Good taste in cars btw, the tiger is one that I would like to have in my garage!

Lovely coupe, well bought. We used to say, "Welcome to the Asylum. But these days that word is fraught with so many meanings. So, "Welcome."
