This forum post originally began as a WTB post. It evolved into a very useful discussion on M30 intake ports and manifolds, so I requested that site administrators move it to a different forum.

One of mine..you can see the lip edge that needs a bit of massaging for clean transition, but you’d want to gasket match them anyway..

A little confused…b34 and b35 intake port shape completely different, at least on US motors, the 3.5 euro after the early M90 was sometimes referred to as b35. Are you looking for two smanifolds? Carzundpartz did not exist when the the US got the b35 late 87, early 88 on the last 635’s.

Thanks for the question.. I'm looking for the karzundpartz intake manifolds that mate with the US B34 and B35 heads. (Edit: I made a mistake on the B35. See discussion below.)

First photo is the B34/B35 intake port shape; it's a fat 'U' shape. (this is what I'm searching for).

Second and third photos are the intake manifolds for the M10 motor on the E10; intake port is a rounded rectangular shape. M10 intake manifolds have a different bolt pattern than M30 intake manifolds. In addition, there is a notch on one of the M10 intake manifolds because of clearance issues near the water port on the head.

B35 is actual longer and narrower….does not have injection port area in center top. I will provide some photos this afternoon. Have some manifolds, but is tough to find anything that matches b35(US) Not sure if Ray made anything for it but will look tomorrow.

Thanks

Shaped sorta like this….will try to get a representation after lunch, I was looking because I want to run a b35 head with 300 cam and Webers on one of my vintage cars, would take a lot of work to port match anything I found. You might try Germany.

Don't recall any Karzundpartz manifolds for b35 large intake ports.
Wow Al that memory is on the money.
Don't think there's enough "meat" to safely hog out to match b35. Black line is the inside of the gasket.
If anyone happens to have one loose manifold to match my two please holler.

Yeah the K&P manifold is rough, and it seems designed for the 3.0 liter M30. It might be able to be ported out for the M90, but the B35 is even wider, as shown by @2000CS That's a big stretch. I made a 3D model for one for the M90, but making it in metal is going to be expensive $400 each.. I may yet go there, but not yet!

B35 intake port, If you find anything for Webers that match I would also be interested…I grew up in Greensboro, home of Karzundparts and Kormans. There shared space in the 70’s….

I wanted to say thank you to everyone who jumped into this conversation; I learned a lot. After @Bavman posted, I started looking at various heads and intake manifolds.

Here's a collection of images I found...
  • 1984 M90 head 1304473
  • 1984 M30 head 1277358
  • M30B34 Intake Manifold 1270676 (1)
  • M30B34 Intake Manifold 1270676 (2)
  • 1984 M30B34 Engine 1304473
  • 1987 M30B34 Engine 1288086
  • M30B35 Intake Manifold 1707617
  • 1987 M30B35 Head 1708843

It seems to me the karzundpartz M30 manifolds will fit the M30 and M90 heads.. and they might possibly fit M30B34 heads based on the shape of the intake manifold and heads on two rebuilt engines I found...

And.. as everyone pointed out, the B35 intake port is wider.. (never noticed that before).

Edit: Added an unmodified B35 head (1708843) so it can be compared to the ported head shown below.

@Bavman and @2000CS : I had a conversation with @Shawn Essex, who has a track E9 with a Terry Tinney '87 M30B35 motor.

Tinney did porting work on the M30B35 head and K&B intake manifolds; he also modified gaskets to match port shape. So, apparently with careful modification, the K&P manifolds can be matched to B35 heads, but it sounds like a complex job.. I'll follow up and see if there are photos...

Pics from head refresh about a year ago. Gaskets get opened up to match porting on b35 head and K&P manifolds.
