The '74 CS I bought has Bilstein shocks with what I think are stiffer springs. I plan to at least go to OE (or lowering) springs over the winter. I have always preferred Koni shocks on my cars (previous '73 CS, and Porsche 928's) to Bilsteins.

So, I've been searching for Koni shocks for this car. Does anyone know if they are still made???? IF so, where can they be purchased. I've tried to search a Koni catalog and couldn't come up with any part numbers for this car.

THANKS for your input.

Hi Gary, I run Konis in my car so assume they made them at sone time, unfortunately I can't help you with part numbers.
Both my front and back have adjustable rebound damping (push down and turn type adj)
If you have no luck finding "off the shelf" fitments, a good Koni dealer with a shock dyno should be test you Bilsteins and either find something or make you some custom units to fit, if you go this way you could get the nice externally adjustable units, this is my plan for later this year after I get the car back up and running with my new EFI system.

For anyone who is interested - I found a set of new Koni shocks at the 'Classic Garage' www.classicgarage.com

A woman named Ann there was very helpful in getting the full set together. Originally, they were missing some parts for the front strut insert, but between Koni North America, Ann, and my 'nagging', they got all the parts together and the shocks are now in my garage.

So -I'll have a set of used Bilsteins for sale this winter, when I remove the stiffer springs and the Bilstein shocks in favor of stock stiffness (well, maybe lowering) springs and the Konis.

Funny I just traded a case of beer for these. Does anyone know anything about these? I was told they came off an E3 but just for my reference are they compatible with E9? I don't want to sell them but if I ever do it would be good to know. They say Heavy-Turn/Sens-Reglage. 12/72 I'm guessing is DOM and then 82P-165. Koni-Holland. I heard they are fairly rare. Are these pretty stiff shocks if still good?

Gary, Would you mind posting the Koni part numbers for the shocks, strut inserts, and associated strut insert parts you ended up buying?

BOGE 32-351-0
SACHS 716 131
SACHS 716 134
BILSTEIN P 36-0028

KONI 86-1667*

Rear
Factory Number
SACHS 012 131
BOGE 32-326-0
BILSTEIN B 46-0105
BILSTEIN B 46-0108
