Interesting aftermarket air-conditioner mounted in the rear/trunk...

As long as you can switch it on and run the AC full blast, that's all you need. With all the glass, probably only marginally effective anyway!

Not only does the rear seat passenger have to be folded in half to sit back there, additionally they will have frozen necks from ac vents.

Beautiful car.

It’s in the register without the rear AC. Looks like it was added in Texas, strange things happen there. (or so I’m told);)
The rear AC vents remind me of some early 50’s Cadillacs that had similar vents mounted in the parcel shelf.

Pic 155 is that a remote for the A/C? I cannot zoom in enough on my tiny computer screen. What is it? Cool if it was a seat eject

Interesting aftermarket air-conditioner mounted in the rear/trunk...

For a short time during restoration, I toyed with the idea of adding AC to my 2000CS. I didn't want to mess with that beautiful dash and looked into trunk-mounted systems; but I also didn't want to cut the unobtanium vinyl parcel shelf.

In my head, I devised a stealth AC system and diffuser. My thought was to mount a large evaporator/fan unit in the trunk, then route the ducts through the center of the rear seat, behind the pull-down arm rest. My thought was to make a removeable diffuser box that would fit in the space created when the arm rest is down. When I wanted AC, I could simply lower the arm rest and place the diffuser in the empty space. The vents would blow right in between the front seats.

When I didn't want AC, I could remove the diffuser box and store it in the trunk, flip up the arm rest and no one would be the wiser.

Added benefit of a trunk mounted system is they typically have larger evaporators and more fan capacity...more than enough to cool the cabin of a Coupe.

I think it would work...

I would think that the confined trunk would inhibit cooling ability of the condenser.
I can't tell from the pictures, but I would think that since the compressor is in the front which means that both lines need to run to the trunk anyway, that the condenser would be in in its usual spot in front of the radiator.

Texas heat can make an owner do strange things. Like adding cruise control to a 5-speed with triple DCOE40s. That will be easy to take out of the console.
