Latest BaT offering.... 1972 3.0CS in Monterey

Which indicates it is worse than expected. The covers are horrible and outer rocker looks pretty bad. Probably why owner is selling.

Nice looking car! GLWS

Installed and good running triples along w/ a 5spd are all bonus points in my book. Triples have always been the cats meow for an in-line 6. Whether British, Italian or German = the ultimate period visual under the hood. Something about 6 trumpets............

FWIW: Learned that 40s just aren't as tunable/adjustable as the 45s, but that could be ultimately determined at a proper Dyno session with a true Weber expert if the 40s are properly set-up. Likely a decent fit if its a stock motor and cam at mid to higher RPM. If the 40s aren't ideal, just swap out for the 45s. Was tracking w/ 40s with a hot cam/head until we learned that 45s would ultimately make the motor happier. DCOE 40s will go on da bay all day to re-coup some $.

My biggest question is what the deal with pic #152? (extra light switch?!)

Again GLWS! I would not kick it outta the bed for eating crackers ;)

Somehow strange > no comments at all are made about the ,missing’
outer sill covers ?
the outer sill covers (decoration not bearing / left/right (51 13 1 810 551/552)
are not in place, missing…
inside sills n floor parts, questionable repair ?? any thoughts ?

the write up says the color is "Hellrot" #114 on the touchup paint label. A later BMW color or??

I will restrain myself from commenting on the "...rot" in the color's name.

Finally, why not source an original factory/dealer system and be done with it?

The sill covers are there but painted red and the jack openings don’t match the rocker itself.
Are you sure ? If indeed the whole ,set up/repair’ looks STRANGE (to me ;) and
far from correct.
Compare with picture 253/424 here, looks different and more ,correct’ to me…;)
(although, chrome list fitting seems ,upside down’ ??o_Oo_O)

Sill covers have mismatched opening around jack points, you can see mounting screws front and under. It is worth no more than high bid I think. I loved his walk around video of the underside where he pans right past the horrid driver floor pan extending into wheel well with its own issues.

The car sure looked better in that Petrolicious story. The BaT auction brought out the flaws that needed to be known by the bidders. What happened to Petrolicious?

Basically, the owner was an overt racist & political instigator. Advertisers dropped Petrolicious faster than a hot potato. So Petrolicious was sold and for all intents & purposes defunct.

Whoah I had no idea!

I loved their opening and sound effects. Based on Andrew's post I will miss nothing else. Good riddence.

Yes, that guy was a complete scumbag. One of their main photographers, Ted Gushue (sp ?) left in disgust when he found out and started a really great company named Type 7. They have an always interesting instagram account. They make films about interesting car and design in general related stories.
