I upgraded my 73 and 71 to LED headlights in 2021. I paid about $400 for just the low beams for my 73 from a small company https://vintagecarleds.com/?make=8897&model=13020&year_id=13090&post_type=product&action=vpf-search. They completely change night driving in that car. I think I purchased the low beams for my 71 from Walmart. I think I paid about $175 for just the low beams. They bring lighting for these cars into the 2020s. Well now Walmart and other vendors are selling these glass headlights with the led bulbs for $109 for all four lights. Check them out, no need for relays or upgraded wiring.

I’ve been toying with upgrading headlights but didn’t want to deal with all the hassle of figuring out bulbs, relays, harnesses, etc. At some point would have likely taken the time to go through the forum posts and figure out options, but if these are theoretically plug and play, I’ll be the guinea pig. Of the three options (COB, CSP Q8, CSP Z8) which is the correct one? I’ll order, install and fill in the rest of the group. Walmart has a pretty good return policy.

Dapper Lighting sells headlights that fit. I just had to slightly modify the chrome ring (trimmed one of the tabs a bit), but other than that, fit right in. They can be configured with LEDs or HID setups. No affiliation, but I put them in my car...

I have these on my 71 and they are very good plug and play. sorry it took me a while which one I had purchased, I thought it was Walmart, but it was these. The price is good

This is what I have in my 73 which is in better shape body wise than my 71. Once again plug and play no wire modifications or relays needed

You can also swap in the same bulb in 4W which helps but obviously not as bright as LED. I also bypass the rheostat in the light switch since they often don’t have a good contact.

absolutely Chris, who needs to dim - dimly illuminated lights. i put 4w bulbs in mine ... haven't thought about LED, largely because many LED are not dimmable, or do not dim well - UNLESS the bulb is designed to be dimmable ... and many automotive LED bulbs do not address that feature
