Part number on it is 1826809. Yes, I think it's for a 74 or 75.

why are the insides bent in on the gas cap
shouldn't it be perfect round
plus there are nicks on the top of the edges

Those appear to factory crimps as they are exactly 45 degrees apart. You are correct about nicks though. There are a few tiny nicks. I'll revise description accordingly.
