It’s all good and apologies to you as well. The sell of the car was hard. My son and I really had good intentions for her but life happens and we steer a different course. We will miss that car but we know as you said it didn’t go to a flipper. Gordon seems to be an honest guy and I felt good about selling the car to him. Have a great day and keep the old beauties rolling as they do well deserve. Joe

Joe is a standup guy. Based on our conversations we did a hand shake deal. The deal was done through trust, over the phone, he never mislead, and presented the car honestly.
This is where two people with the best intentions and high levels of integrity, met, made a deal, and stuck to their word.
As for the car, my previous malaga was considered to be in amazing original condition with minimal rust.
If you can believe it, this car is in better condition. Obviously was garage kept for the majority of its life.
Paint: was originally Baikal.(one of my favorite colors) Painted black at some point. Per Joe, the paint had a lot of cracks due to the hardening agent. He used scotchbight to get the current look. There is some grey primer areas showing through and it looks bad ass in my opinion. E9 ratrod.
Transmission: 5spd. I was looking for the pattern online. It has reverse to the far left. Is that standard or close ratio? Don't need 5th gear until about 65-70mph. Make sense?
I am in no hurry to do a restoration. Not sure I will be bringing it back to its former glory anytime soon.
Transport company is picking it up soon to take it up to portland. I am having a hard time letting it out of my sight and handing it over to them. I am pretty confident it will make the drive (runs great although the carbs need some tuning) figured it best to have it transported
I am sure that I will be asking for technical assistance and always appreciated this forum.

Hey autokunst before you talk shit about my paint job, maybe you should get your cheese ass out of Wisconsin and see that around our parts guys are buying brand new cars and dropping 10K on a matte black paint job. And the beer tap shifter speaking to a different crowd.......when your son asks can he put that on the car that he helped you with you say yes cause that’s what a good father does asshole. Know the story of the car before you talk your shit about it in your little dark room on your computer where you feel so powerful with your keypad. Now go back to watching your porn. Joe Russo

I'm glad that you guys made up because your response was completely over the top and uncalled for. Escalate much?

Glad that Gordon got the car and that I posted it. He and I were mulling over car options over the last six months and I didn't think to send this one to him first when it popped up.

Great deal sounds like! Just get a front bumper (maybe a CSL air dam too if you like em) and drive it as-is! The flat black looks kind of cool and you can drive the crap out of it while you save money up for parts and resto.

Front bumper is in the trunk complete with front end caps. It is going back on. And yes.
First purchase is an air dam.
Thinking about switching over to style 5 wheels. Need to determine the value of coupe king Alpinas currently on the car.

Hi Gordon,

I'm building/selling a set of polished lip style 5's with spinfab billet waffles and aluminum center caps. They probably won’t be ready until October though.

Thanks Steve. If I decide to go with side drafts again I may be soliciting your advise.
Markos, yes! Interested. But price will dictate.
Was considering 18's staggered, but not sure they will fit. I may also be interested in one of your center console pieces. They sound like a quality product.

Wowsers. Joe, I think my comments were taken differently than intended. I don't want to agitate you any more than I seem to have. But know that my comment about the matte black paint was intended to be a nod to how it was slightly elevated with two matching cars in the frame. I'll stand by the tap handle shifter comment as well. A different crowd isn't a bad crowd. I am originally from Chicago, but when I moved to Milwaukee 12 years ago, a beer capital, know that beer, beer tap handles, and beer history are pretty important things here. And they are usually seperate from the topic of classic cars, driving, etc. There was no hidden derision in my comments. And certainly no need to name call. I think you'll see from my subsequent comment in this thread, I am thrilled that the car was sold to a new owner (rather than a flipper), and look forward to watching that new owner, in your words, "bring her back to her original beauty". :)
I am all about the love of the cars, good craftsmanship, and the camaraderie and good spirit found on this forum. :D

Re-reading this thread, I have to give Stephen the class act award for his tactful reply to an otherwise despicable personal attack by someone on their 3rd message on the board. I was too stunned the first time I read it to react appropriately, especially right after Stephen had paid him compliments.
I think this kind of attitude has no place on this forum and should be treated accordingly.

Stephen writings on this forum has always shown tactful approach to any situations! Each time we have calm and well drafted response to verbal attacks it shows the depth of the individual/s, such as Stephan , more and more. I haven’t met Stephen but I salute him for not bringing himself down , and keeping his mannerism high, and as strong as ever!
Congratulations to the buyer! It is nice to know another E9 will be on a path of improvements and joyful drives!
Best wishes to all !
