Is it advisable to change the long shaft rather than repair it?? If its to replace where can one find a good source??

If you are referring to the drive shaft I could't find a company locally to repair the U-joints because they are sealed, I bought a new one for about the same price anyway.

Your friendly local auto machine shop may take on the job, fixing the shaft in a lathe and rotating it very slowly, while welding. At least one shop here in Honolulu did it that way, until the guy developed a liking for recreational chemicals, so I'm told. It depends on the availability of alternatives, and locally available stock level of elbow grease.
