12 mm could be right, perhaps even 10 mm.
I measured on my screen this image:
The head is 10 mm as it’s M6.
So from that, I can scale the picture on my screen, so that the diameter of the head is exactly 1 to 1, so 10mm. The end of the bolt is not visible coming out of the plastic block. When I estimate where the thread starts and where it ends, it’s length seems to be just a bit longer as the diameter of the head, so 10 or 12 mm could be ok.
But one caveat: I am not 100% sure that the bolt in the picture is exactly the same as the ones that i used in the end for this picture (which obvisouly uses bolts with the correct length)
I am at work now, if you want to know for sure I can dig in my parts pile this evening to search for the bolts and measure their length.
