We ran the Luigi CSL at the Sonoma Historics over the weekend. The weather was great, and there were 325 cars entered for the event.

We were put into Group 12, which was led by a 956 Porsche and trailed by an Alfa GTV. Quite a spread! The bulk of the group was 934's and 935's, a couple of RSR's, and some big American IMSA iron.

Luigi ran well all weekend, though his new head seemed to have some valve stem seal issues. When you see the video from the rear facing camera there is a plume of oil smoke at several points around the track emanating from his pipes. We will look into that before Mt. Tremblant.

I had a great battle with Jim Froula in his Skyline GTR and John Norman in his Alfa GTV on Sunday. Jim had an ignition problem and DNF'd. John and I battled until the next to last lap when I was able to get beside him coming out of 11 and hold the outside through 1 and up the hill to 2. He tried to get inside me into 11 on the last lap, but I was able to hold him off to the checkered flag.

Henry Schmitt had his IMSA car there. He was running 4th until he ran out of fuel about 4 laps from the end. They had changed the gearing from Saturday and he was running about 4 seconds a lap quicker on Sunday, but he was also using considerably more fuel than he had, hence the outage.

Here are the two cars together in the paddock:

Great chatting with you on Sunday, and great pass into 2. I was rooting for you to get around that GTV and it was great to see it happen on the last lap.
