Hi All,
This has probably been covered somewhere; I am doing up the top end of my M30. I would like to know if anyone has fitted a 282° camshaft. Schrik make them (282° - Schrik P/n - 0022 01 820-00). How do they compare to the OEM 11311255984 (NLA)? Any other tips would be very much appreciated.

I have one and love it. @sfdon installed it in my rebuilt head. Good idle quality and makes the engine come alive especially from 3k rpm up.
Thanks very much, Steve. My biggest concern was that it would make the car undrivable, too lumpy. Did you change the jets in the carby? Or change the ignition advance?

Just run the idle up to 1000 rpm
The schrick is a mild street cam.

Yes but not because of the cam. I have triple webers and 123 distributor so I run 20 degrees advance at idle which the engine loves and 35 all in by 3k rpm. As Don mentioned I idle it at 975-1k or so and it’s fine. You’ll like it.

Thanks for sending me down a rabbit hole on that 300 degree sport cam. Want!

A 282 is much more sensible and few in here will likely recommend a 300 for the street. Manageable on a carb car though as many 2002 guys can attest. The BMW M10 300 required journal work to fit.

Amazing sight to see when a stock cam is swapped into a head with modified journal.. Soooo much oil everywhere!
