I don’t believe that any of these cars came with factory chrome arches…

I agree. In fact were there ANY Mercedes that came stock with that trim? Any cars at all? Chrome arches were available aftermarket for just about any car in the 80's....

I'd also suggest that the trim on the W112 (and the Lincoln Jon shows) was too "dainty" to qualify as chrome wheel arch trim...

Those moldings are almost small enough to be attractive, but still qualify (IMO) as chrome arches.

A '56 Chrysler Imperial.
Quite a few US cars had chromed wheel arch trim by the 50s.

IF CSLs had thin "arches," like many of the examples above, then it wouldn't be so bad.
