I have an early 1972 RHD CSL. Can someone please post a picture of the tool that is supposed to live in the under boot tool tray that allows manual operation of electric windows after failure of the electrics? Its the one you insert in the hole that is exposed when you pull off the circular plastic trim covers on the doors. Thanks!

Thanks - not sure I understand how that works though!

You pop the plastic cap on your door panel and tediously rotate the plastic gear on the motor.

Take a look at the video below. You will need watch closely (and listen) to the plastic gear to understand what is happening. If you look at the holes in the big metal regulator housing you will see the window pass by.

Looks almost like a gear from a Lego Technic kit?

It is a lego gear actually. I have to dislodge legos from my bare feet every morning. :D Again, it is only useful if your windows don’t work and your door panels are off. It would probably be faster to remove your door panels than use that hand tool though. :) Especially i’m back.

That's pretty slick. Is that a gear from an old regulator or something we can buy?

$11 seems a bit outrageous but you can buy the parts here:
