It should be 23.8mm, the 2800CS used 22.2mm.
Would the size of the brake booster also determine the MC size?
I dunno. My 2800 booster is a lot thinner than the later ones.

We discussed this a few months ago but I can’t find the thread. The 2800CS got the thinner pancake style booster, the 3.0CS got the fatter one.

My '69 2500 also had the thinner booster. Masterly, beautiful brake feel, much better than the 2800CS and current 3.0CS, and wife's Bavaria. Of course it could be other things about the brake system, but it was the best I've had.
