MIG welding: disconnect ECU?

Planning to do some floor panel welding on my CSI. I will disconnect the battery and am wondering if I need to disconnect the ECU, alternator and anything else? I’ve heard differing opinions, so I’ll try the most reliable source: E9 guys! Thanks.

Just disconnecting the battery should be fine to do the welding But saying that , how hard is it to disconnect those as well.

In cases like this I always choose the safe side - What the risk of someone answering your question incorrectly, who actually doesn't have to solve the issue if he was wrong? Especially as the action (unplug ECU) is just 60 seconds....

When doing any welding on a car, I was always disconnect and remove the battery and remove the ECU if equipped. Better safe than sorry.
