This is a super fancy car show where the tix were $375 each and the dress code was Party Chic. People in Miami like to be seen at the latest fancy places. My Coupe was declined the first 2 years, but accepted this 3rd time. I was given 2 tix and took Jon Van Woerden, the official photographer for BMW CCA and the Miami soccer team.
Saturday was a beautiful sunny day for the Rally. Over 15 Miami motorcycle police escorted about 45 cars on a 1 hour drive through Miami, the Beach, and ended at Hard Rock Stadium on the F1 track being set up for the big race in May. This reminded me of the bicycle tour called Critical Mass that I once rode. It is really fun driving through red lights with a Rolls Royce ahead of you and a Ferarri behind you watching hundreds of people taking pics along the way.
Sunday was the big event with many famous people as VIP judges. We had a heavy rainstorm in the morning,so the proper attire was "waterproof chic". Watching those with open Lambos and other exotic cars getting them covered was interesting. The cars that caught my attention were a 1973 Citroen convertible (best of show award) and a 1964 red Lancia Flavia with a tan interior. The Pagani was over the top,and a 1959 Maserati Superlagerra was perfect. It had just completed a 1000-mile tour in Colorado last summer.
Here are pics of both events.
