Does anyone know what the vin numbers were for the final run of the 1971 2800cs coupes. Mine was produced March of 71' which from what I understand was the last month for the 2800cs. Just curious how many more were produced after mine.

I actually checked there but the issue is based on what is listed only 641 2800cs coupes were produced yet the vin numbers go from 2270001 to 2270841 which makes 840 total. What happened with the 200 and in what year did they skip 200 vin numbers? What is the vin number for the firs 2800cs US market coupe for 1971. By the way mine is also a US market coupe.

What's your VIN? Only 641 produced, no more of the 4 speeds, plus 526 automatics. They start with 2270001 and 2280001, respectively. Our Registry has 2270003 and 2280001. The lastest ones in Registry are 2270640 and 2280519. BMW says last 4 speed produced 3/26/71, last auto on 3/23/71 but a few could be a day or two later, they weren't built in numerical sequence entirely. Hope this helps.

My car was produced 3/08/1971 and vin#2270604. So almost 200 were produced after my car in the next two weeks? My car is a manual if that matters.
