Hey, folks, Bentley Publishers has pre-released my book "Memoirs of a Hack Mechanic: How Fixing Broken BMWs Helped Make Me Whole." See www.bentleypublishers.com/hack-mechanic for details.
Although the book is a memoir -- my life viewed through the lens of cars in a way that car guys and the people who love them will immediately recognize themselves -- there's a lot of E9 stuff in the book. As you can see from the attached, there's a nice photo of my E9 on the back cover, taken on the Blue Ridge Parkway on the way to Vintage at the Vineyard in 2010. And the book contains expanded versions of the "Life, Death, and Life of a Coupe" articles I wrote for Roundel in 1988 detailing the rejuvenation of my beloved '73 3.0CSi. It also has a lengthy and detailed chapter on air conditioning, including repair and from-scratch installation using what I did on the E9 as a specific example.
"Pre-release" means you can order the book now, at an introductory price, and you'll be shipped a signed copy. If you're coming to The Vintage (Vintage at the Vineyard) on Memorial Day, and you want a book, don't pre-order because I'll be there and will have books (The Vintage is the first official book release event) and will be signing them in your choice of scummy automotive fluids. Be sure to stop by and say hi.
This ends this episode of shamleless self-promotion. Thanks for your indulgence.
