My Modified 1989 Porsche 911 Carrera Coupe 25th Anniversary - LIVE on BaT

I was thinking of getting a 996 - great price these days. Other than making sure you change the IMS bearing in the bad years do you have any thoughts?
i have a 997.c2 (2009-2012). no IMS bearing issue and i have 94k miles and drive it everyday. the 996 and 997 are very similar overall, some people hate the front headlights of the 996. one thought, haven't kept up with the recent pricing on the 996 turbo ... they were a bargain for a long time. it does NOT have the IMS issue. i am a big proponent of the 996 / 997 rather than the 991 / 992 for the simple reason that Porsche lengthened the car 4" and went to electronic steering. the newer cars have precise steering, but you lose the road feel. the late 991's + 992 are mostly all 3L turbo engines. my 911s has a stock 3.8L and produces 385hp. the base 997,c2 has a 3.6L and somewhere between 340 and 350 HP (I don't remember).

a quick thought, if you are in there changing the IMS bearing, change the clutch at the same time ... but all in, you will be looking at more than a $5k bill ... might be pushing 7k. that's worth remembering in regard to the pricing of a 996 vs a 997

OH ... forgot to congratulate @GolfBavaria on the sale of the 911. hope you got close to your number
