I've deceived to update the audio equipment and settled on this beauty, I've been after one for ages after seeing one in a E28 M5 I bought years ago, but the vendor didn't include it in the sale. It's about the most up to date old fashioned bit of kit I could find. Has anyone else got anything similar in their coupe? I didn't want to put altra modern CD players in with mahOOOOOsive speakers so this is going in. But where do I put the front speakers??? I realy don't want to cut the front door cards as I know how hard they are to find. Any ideas???

i've been thinking of doing the speakers in the lower (front) side panels as well. i refuse to cut wholes in the door panels. i've been thinking about speakers in the center dash as well - originally thought of a pair of tweeters there, but i've also been contemplating an attachment to either mount a GPS / ipad mini (only when i'm driving the car) haven't got that far yet ... and if i can find a good navi app for the ipad.

Don't cut any new holes. Ideas? Yes connect that audio system to headphones.

Nicad - many thanks but I cannot take too much of the credit. The garage is doing the work, I just give input on how I want some things and sign the checks.
The garage does very nice work, really happy with it, and I am really looking forward to getting the car back.

Arde - I actually do use headphones in the car. Bose noise canceling ones. Brings the sound level down to almost the same as my 3 series at like 140kph. Soooo nice for long drives. I can drive for 10h straight with those, no problem at all. With me it is the sound that makes me tired, not the driving.
For autobahn speeds I have in ear buds under the Boses. Brings me to almost 7 series noise levels :) but I still hear things like the horn from another car and so.
I really do enjoy doing like 200kph and passing modern cars. Love the looks on the faces of the owners. But there is that little thing with 70s safety in the car...
