New CS on BaT.

Not enough pictures and new-ish intake instead of the banana-style.

Not seeing how $200k in restoration work was spent.

In my opinion, a lot of it had to do with presentation (not necessarily the car). The side mirrors are crooked/sagging. Photos of the interior show cob webs and mildew. These details quickly offer a view of a car that is not as loved and cared for as another without these presentation flaws. There were also photos of the significant rust before restoration, but I couldn't find similar photos that supported correctly mitigated metalwork. Without that, it is hard to know what is under the rustproofing. I think I even see current rust in between the carpet and the seat track in the restored car. Not sure, but that's what it looks like to me. Again, just my opinion. I didn't go see the car to confirm or deny these casual observations. But presentation and representation is required to command big money, in my opinion.

EDIT: also ashtay that is half falling out, gas door rubber that is not clipped to car. Again, details... Let alone evidence of a properly restored chassis. It is impossible to know with the photos shown.

I'd have to agree with you on most of this. Those mirrors were driving my crazy. The restoration work was not presented or explained well. The first time I went through the photos, I kept saying to myself that the car is really nice and then I the photo of rusty hole in the rocker came upt threw me off.

The receipts tell an interesting story. ARI, as many of you know, is a pretty high end shop that works on > million dollar cars. With a quick and perhaps faulty glance it looks like VSR was correcting a lot of work originally done at ARI. We don’t know, of course, if ARI was asked to take short cuts by the owner or not. Overall the car looked nice to me, ignoring the multitude of missed details.

The biggest let down for me was the driving video. It so exciting/thrilling I think I missed the place where he shifted once at more than 3000 rpm.

Anyway, I don’t wish that restoration experience on anyone, which is why you should start at VSR1, not end there.
