Greetings from Michigan

I'm searching for an E9 with an automatic trans. Yes, I know they are slush boxes but I'm an amputee so I can't manage three pedals. I found an auto in Rhode Island and I'm searching for a mobile mechanic to go take a look. There is no insurance or plates so the owner can't drive it to a local independent BMW shop.

Here is the car

It is going to be difficult to evaluate a car without taking it onto the road and without putting it on a lift to look underneath. (and it seems odd that the current owner put 3000 miles on it, but it doesn't have plates and/or insurance). You could call Mario Langston at VSR in NH and see if he's be willing to do it, but he's busy enough he may not want to take the better part of a day to do it.

@D Calkins - Chris has some VERY valid points in his recommendations. somebody that knows what they are looking for needs to get underneath the car and needs to drive it to give you a real evaluation.

Looks like a good possibility. Automatics rarely see the track and preserve the entire drive line.

Food for thought, acquire a manual and get a duck clutch. Don’t let the name fool you, it’s just an electric servo running a cable to your clutch pedal.

It’s not the most beautiful shift knob but it would make your time in the e9 all the more analog and special. I’m confident that Mario’s shop could install one. It’s not the most complicated setup. This opens you up to a multitude of vehicles and is far more reversible than an auto swap. Also, others can still drive the car with the clutch pedal.

I love this idea. Who is Mario? This may not be available in the states

Oh I thought you had Mario at VSR1 looking at a car for you. I see that you are in TX, so you have some trusted options within the state also.

There isn’t anything inherently out of compliance with this modification so I see no reason why you can’t have the kit shipped.
