New Purchase

What a shame! I was just there at Oldenzaal last week and could have done a PPI for you!
I bought first my 2002Tii there, and then later a beautiful Turkis 3.0CSi.
I was back to swap the (perfectly fine) 4-speed for a 5-speed at the tranny guy's shop, and spent a couple of days at Oldenzaal getting some help with small details from Bulent's team.

$118k? Good decision.

Anything over $40k, you need to travel to see it IMHO.

That's a LOT of coin to spend. Without EXTENSIVE pictures of the restoration of any high-priced car, you're rolling the dice.

If you're patient, you could buy yourself a $30k car and send it to LaJolla or at a reduced price, Bennyz in ID like what @scottevest did and wait a year+ for it to get restored. That way you know what you've got and it'll be exactly how you want it.

There's a Oldenzaal restored CSi on BAT right now. Who knows where it will end up $$$. I would like to know what Oldenzaal's reputation is. I kind of get the feeling it is mixed reviews. Or that they take short cuts that cause major headaches down the road. But I have zero experience with them personally. Nor have I seen one of their restorations in person. I've just gotten the vibe on BAT that you need to be careful with their work.

Patience always pays...and most always, the investment of time and eyeballs, yours or others that "know the difference" is the the best money spent.

I believe Beny was able to do mine in about six months
