new record for 40cm petri

Petri

Let the market decide, I suspect the selling price will be substantially less than the asking price.

FWIW ... seller offered me that steering wheel in 2009 for $950. I declined.
Purchased one last year from board member Alex in Munich for 400 euros.

Like our cars, I think the specialty parts will go up in price. I foresee steering wheels offered at $2000. I bought my 14" alpina wheels for $700.00
I know they would cost more now.

no question that they will significantly increase in price ... but doubling the price and not even having the correct horn button ... ridiculous. this guy was asking 900 when other people were asking 600 or less. now he is asking 550 for a retrofitted Momo / Nardi hub with a recreated petri housing.

i am very happy i have a perfect 40cm petri. i wish i had a perfect 38. might not get one with the price increases.

hummmm, my right eye says that is not a NOS!
the guy does a very good job, and the wheel looks fantastic, but, i doubt that being a real NOS

+1 for that.
Except from the probably incorrect text "NOS - New, All original" it's a nice piece of art. Very nice indeed.

What makes you think that ?

Ok, I could be terribly wrong, but my first impressions were:

*Different type of heads of the including screws indicating there been some modifications.
*Rear side looks more brilliant than functional regarding the ring for sliding electrical connection to the horn button (compared with original wheels)

Nevertheless, nice impressive wheel. (though, lot of dollars) :)

you are not wrong, stefan, flat screw heads are damaged result from disassembly and reassembly, parts have been polished to a ridiculous extrem, hub splines are not perfectly neat and there are traces all around that area result from contact to column,...

i am not saying the price is not right, the wheel is splendid, and the job done is exceptional, simply it is not a NOS part

incidentally, presenting that part in that scenario is something kisch and ludicrous, and tells you that the guy is good preserving old furniture, ....may i say that the varnish that covers the wheel has the same shiny finish than the chest of drawers that holds it ?

Hi there!

The wooden one isn't NOS and some parts are missing. Trust me, I have the same steering wheel in my possession.

Besides that, the seller is one crazy person  She ( yes, she ) once threatened me and called me a crook just because I was selling a steering wheel for a fraction of her asking price.

B.T.W 1,080 euro's ( 1,200 usd ) is the record for an original 400 mm Petri in concours condition.

So Hans, I suppose you are a crook(which you are not) in her opinion; because, you are selling the same product for substantially less. Thus depriving her of stealing money from unsuspecting buyers who would pay her more for the same product.

Interesting, contorted logic. Steve
