I see some corrosion on the rear brake line, so will be replacing all of it and the fuel line. I am assuming you cannot buy brake lines that are preformed and must bend them to fit? DOes anyone have any tips on how to best do this? I thought I would cut my existing line in two foot sections and use these sections to help bend the new line a bit at a time. Should I just buy shorter lines and attach them together with fittings or attempt to do a one piece line from master to the rear? I have never used a flaring tool, so if anyone knows which type of flare the E9 uses that would be helpful. I suppose I could reuse the fittings.

I would not cut the existing lines. You will want them whole so you can copy all the bends for the new ones exactly. There are probably places that will bend them for you (if you have the originals intact). You can buy a kit of straight lines from W& N (and probably others) already flared with fittings. I found a place out east (ClassicTube) that made up a set of SS brake and two SS fuel lines for me. They were kind of pricey. Others here may have a better source for stainless options.

The lines from BMW that I have seen had soft tubing that was pretty easy to bend the first time. After that, the metal was work-hardened and harder to bend, so best to get it right the first time! Having the old lines for patterns makes the job a lot easier.

Yes, the BMW lines was very easy to work with. It's some kind of copper alloy. Possible the same as in 61porsches link above.
As I remember there were not very pricey. BMW original parts are always BMW... :-)

This might be of use, m10 to m10 BMW brake lines - part number/length (mm)

Thanks for that Link 61 Porsche. I am impressed with the tips you come up with. Bill, did you buy pre bent lines from BMW or ones with ends already on them in individual lengths? Stefan, I tried the part numbers in you message at Tisher BMW and came up empty.

Anyway, it looks like I have some good options. WHen running the from lines across the firewall it looks like I will destroy that factory insulation if I make the slightest mistake. Is that part still available? Mine is in pretty good condition, but looks fragile.
