With a lot of help from Markos, we created a new thread in the FAQ section that has restored and corrected the old and no longer accessible VIN table by model and production year. Please check it out. We will be adding a few more FAQs such as paint colors.

A big thanks to Chris for initiating the migration away from e9-driven, getting the valuable content on this site! For what it's worth, it is a major PITA to migrate tables of info into the forum format. :D

Should it be corrected and left?

I feel like some non-forum folks refer to the registry. It is quite difficult to spot on the site however. For things like BaT comments, it may be better to link to the registry than the forum. Double-entry isn't ideal but once we nail it, it shouldn't require much updating.

The files need to be updated for the accounts side. The VIN page is a link off of the main page. No login required.

Thanks for the update.

Question for you guys.

My car’s VIN is 4350075. You’ll see it is one of 207 RHD Facelift cars.

What interests me though is according to BMW Classic, my car’s manufacturer date is 13th December 1973 (delivered on 20th).

However according to the records only 66 RHD cars were built in 1973.

So I guess my questions are:

1. where do these stats come from?

2. Could it be more cars were built in 73 than we think?

3. Or could it be cars were NOT built in VIN number order?

thoughts/comments?

thanks, M.

Cool. Would love to see a picture mark.

We can add it the the FAQ if you have a pic. I've seen them on a few cars, but they didn't necessarily make sense that they were present either. Will include specific comments around limited application of said sticker.

I never understood putting a VIN/MFG tag on a removable part like a door. Ford still does it all the time so if you replace the door you have to order a new VIN/MFG label. Or like most vehicles we see, they just don't put one back on.

Cool. Would love to see a picture mark.
Since you asked!

The build month of 5/73 is barely visible and the VIN has disappeared as they are ink and perhaps stamped. Later 2002s in 75 and on have the numbers perforated into the sticker.
