Question: Can an E3 windshield be removed without destroying the rubber seal? I understand that the "locking" strip gets installed onto the seal first before installation, but can it be removed in order to remove the shield without ruining the rubber seal? I ask this because I have a good seal, but would like to remove the shield to rebuild the dash/hvac. Thanks

It's also doable to remove and install the dash with the windshield in place. You'll need one of these...

Very useful tool! I used something similar to remove the starter solenoid, which then allowed me to remove the starter and pull it up between my Weber carbs and avoid all of the carburetor, hoses, coolant and manifold removal drama. Made for a nice simple, and relatively quick job.

So it seems like all of the early style E3 owners should jump on these windshield seals...just sayin.
