NMNA: cool BMW radio (Euro)

Does it work on the facelifted E12 with AC? It seems that its a very "short" space there, and I would love to get an OG radio on it

It's a 1974 radio made by Philips in Germany for the BMW Bavaria 1970 series., so correct for the E9 era.
4 Wave bands, Broadcast, Long Wave, Short Wave plus FM or UHF.
Six adjustable preset station buttons, three of which are for FM.
It's not a stereo.

I think with one of these, you can convert to stereo???

I looked into having someone do this last year. As I recall the cost of parts and labor was in the $600 range, there was an increased cost for doing the conversions to the original blaupunkt that I have.’

I ended up buying a Retrosound radio which fits fairly well, but the knobs aren’t right and it looks like a modern unit, so not really the right look.

A conversion is still on my mind, and would be interested to know if others have done it and what their experience is.

There is also this - it looks like a real Becker but with retrosound guts :) :

I saw that too. A bit pricy though.

I also found a link on a MB forum that had created some camouflage…

Beckers are cool, but the aftermarket Becker look-a-like requires a full DIN opening. Not going to cut up a perfect AC faceplate for that.

For that, I'll convert my original "chrome bezel" Becker, its guts w/the above kit.

Here's what that looks like.
