The condition of the wood is soo shiny, that it looks freshly made. Which can nee good, or bad (as in presenting to real, when it's merely a very good repro)

my guess - somebody had a rubber one that was damaged ... and hired somebody to make it a custom wood wheel. the gearshift knob matches ... and we know that wouldn't have easily happened

What's that green coating? Clear coat that's gone off? Have you tried to wipe it down?
