These things will slow traffic in and around major cities to even more of a crawl. And that is assuming they operate as intended. Think what a couple of hackers could do with thousands of these on the streets:

I agree about the hacking threat. I look forward to autonomous transportation though. If I was in charge of a city budget, I would wait for the consumer transportation market to work out the kinks before investing. It's bad enough buying the first model year of a new vehicle, let alone this major technology hurdle. Without reading the article, I assume that the manufacturer is basically giving these away to get a foot hold on a near limitless market.
