Finished changing out every thing in the front, wishbones, tie rods and shocks. Car cranks but won't start now. I am getting no gas to the Carbs cause car will start if I spray starter and because I pulled the fuel line at both carbs and it was dry. Here's what I have done

1) Jack support is very close to the fuel line on the driver side, looked a little flattened so that was changed. While changing, gas was flowing no problem.

2) I changed all cloth hoses, one in the trunk, one from engine base to filter and all those to filter, pump and carbs to exclude any cracks. Still dry.

3) I by passed the filter, still dry.

4) I sucked on the line from the filter egress and got gas so line is clear from tank to filter output.

5) I had someone crank the engine while I pushed on the rod that fits behind the pump, that moved perfectly back and forth.

6) The spacer is original and the car ran fine for 2 years.

7) I vented the tank, also unhooked the vent charcoal cannister to make sure no vacuum

OK so you are all saying, daaa, the pump is out why are you posting this? Well I took off the pump and ran a line from it into one gas can and out to another and manually pumped it, it transferred gas with no problem. Can a pump partially work like this but not when actually trying to run the car? It's cold here in Ma, imagine a diphragm can crack while the car sat for a week (in garage, prob hit low 50's). Gotta be the pump but before I shell out 130 bucks...thanks

Pull the fuel hose off the pump ( both directions ) and fill in with gas, then refit it to the pump. Crank it; it should start now. I used to drive my 2500 in the scandinavian winter a couple of years ago and the temp was far below 20F, so it should work.

Good luck!

If the suction side hose gets a tiny air leak, the pump will suck air and no fuel will flow. Check the line between the fuel pump and the hard line at the firewall.

If you still have the old style externally braided hose, shame on you, fire will soon show those hoses get brittle, break and ignition follows. DAMHIK.

See my post:
