Hi,

I'm currently about to install my headliner, and I've been trying to search for this but didn't find anything.

Question:
How does the front of the headliner get attached to the car? Is it only supposed to get glued over the side edges and hang loose where the formed sunvisor panel goes?
I've testfitted the headliner, and in my opinion I'd need to attach it somewhere in the middle to be able to stretch it enough to not get wrinkles, but maybe that wont be a problem later when I start clamping and gluing it to the side edges?

Second question:
It's three and a half year since I removed my old headliner, so I don't remember exactly how this was done, but there are two holes on each side near the A pillar, my old headliner has holes on the exact same location, so there has to have been something (pop rivets?) holding the headliner in place there. The problem that pops up in my head is that the chrome trim has to be able to slip over there later.. Can anybody shed some light on this?

The holes I'm talking about:

And if anyone has other helping ideas/things that are good to know before installing, please feel free to share:)

Cheeers,
Robert

The fabric slips underneath the front panel which in turn is held in place by 4 small pop rivets, again it was a while ago when I installed mine but from memory we started from the rear and worked forward. I seem to remember that there was also some screws that held the front panel in place. The chrome trim will fit over the rivets,we used a nail punch to further flatten the tops for clearance but it wasn't a problem.

Cheers John

yea mike those four spots use copper small rivets that hold each side of the back of the front panel
then it will pull the headliner taunt at the front

Aah yes, I didn't think to check on the front panel.. of course the holes are meant to hold the back of the front panel + front of the headliner.

Thanks for all the help so far! I've read that using a heatgun might help with wrinkles, what is your experience on this?
