While out trying to locate a rusty csi in town I saw this, not a bmw looks like a '71-74 xke roadster rotting away within a mile of the pacific. The cars are in varying states of decay. Fortunately no unlucky bavarias or coupes entered in this trap. At least they're thoughtful and put a skylight over the interior...

Ouch, painful to see. In addition to the E-type, that's an Alfa spider in the foreground (probably early 1970's) and two Alfa sedans - what are called a "Giulia Supers" (mid-late 1960's) in the background and second photo. The spiders were sold by the thousands here in the US and aren't that valuable, but very few Supers were imported and they have become very collectible.

Here are the photos properly oriented:

My early 60s Giulietta Spyder looked like that when it was given to me. I decided that it was not worth the effort to replace the floors and sills and gave it to the car shop in the local high school.

Thanks Jay for aligning the pics, I put my cell over the fence to get the pics. There must be nicer cars inside.
I think I can make out a corvette forward end in the pile.

No doubt these cars would have value to someone as parts cars. Many of the trim parts on the Alfas were made of stainless and are fairly impervious to being left outdoors. But I'm not sure you or I want to get involved with the owner of this fine collection.

At least they're thoughtful and put a skylight over the interior...

That's not a skylight - clearly some master craftsman is re-creating Ed Roth's famous "Beatnik Bandit":

Here are the second pair of photos re-aligned - in the right photo you can see the similarity between the E-type and the Beatnik Bandit. I'm not finding a Corvette, though I'm guessing that the tan car at the center of the right photo is a Maserati Biturbo.

The bright red fenders I think are 60s corvette. There are a couple big late 70s/80s maserati 4 doors. I can imagine the owner must be bombarded with offers as there is a body shop across the street.
Yeah that skylight is looney... There used to be a rusted through sparkle pink/purple early xke in monterey. The salt air here rots cars out fast when they're just sitting.
I'll try to get a pic of the rusty coupe the next time I see it. Its a driver with a perfect interior but the inner fenders and "A" frames are rotty.

So much for the rust free california car myth here. ..

I can see some gaping holes through the roof on this one so no need to get a closer look. A friend says owner wants top $$$...

It's great when you stumble upon stuff like that, it's harder and harder to find that kind of thing. But at the same time, I hate seeing that. Just completely neglected beautiful cars with stubborn owners that will never get around to restoring them and want top dollar but can't even afford to store them indoors or at least cover with a tarp. That should be a misdemeanor crime LOL. What a shame.
