That is a warning that you will receive when the site you are visiting isn't using SSL (https in the URL). I haven't talked to Dan about this but I'm sure he will chime in. The site is capable of using SSL, and is using a well-known certification method. If you type the site URL using https instead of http, it will go away. Most sites will issue a redirect if you type in the the http address - to the https address.

I knew why it was there but should we be concerned that it isn’t secure? Do I need to delete my bookmark and search e9 for the secure https version?

The odd thing is that the "not secure" appears on my iPad but not on my desktop...

Are you accessing the e9coupe forum using an "https" URL on both the iPad and the desktop?

What browser are you using on the two devices (probably Safari on the iPad)? I recently encountered some security weirdness on an Android tablet. A google search suggested the problem could be fixed by using Chrome instead of the tablet's default browser, and sure enough, that worked. But you probably can't run Chrome on an iPad.

I'm not sure a lack of security is a big deal on a discussion forum like e9coupe; it isn't as if we are entering credit card information (am I being naive here?).

No reason to worry about security on this site, we don't even get your address on your profile. You are correct about secure sites for CC info, etc...

Agreed for the most part. Lot’s of people recycle passwords. Users should make sure that they are using the HTTPS protocol. Otherwise you are sending your password clear text over the internet.
