Looking for good quality color photos of engine compartments to use as reference for original-style resto. Prefer factory photos from when our cars were new. Ideally '71 2800CS. I searched the files here but it is tough to find genuine originals.

BTW, there is a section of this site in Tech Info for factory literature. There is lots of lit out there that is not posted here -- some of which I have. Any interest in expanding this? Thanks.

Taken at the BMW Museum; quality is not perfect but hopefully these will be of some help.

Thanks, LenS. These are a big help. That air cleaner looks suspiciously shiny. I wonder if they dressed up that engine for display.

The fan and fan clutch are much newer, not the original mechanical clutch and red fan. Also, exhaust manifold covers are from a later car, the originals aren't available. Air cleaner looks correct.

No problem; wasn't sure if you just wanted overall compartment images, or detailed shots like these so I'm glad they're helpful...

Ah, point deductions—even for the factory!

Chris (and others) what is your take on the finish in the last shot? This just looks like silver paint similar to alumiblast. Surprised the BMW museum has some inaccuracies.
